With a little advice from Wired Magazine and some of our own investigation, we selected a few of the “cutting-edge” gadgets that stole the show at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show. The annual event wrapped up on January 10 in Las Vegas. We checked these items out and gave them our own reviews just for you…

Coway's Bidetmega 400

Roofers deserve better than a repulsive Port-O-Let all the time!  At least when you’re home, treat your derrière to a startling splash of European extravagance. If you’ve never tried out a bidet, just take a seat and enjoy the ride!  It’s like the sensation you get when you shoot off the end of a water slide.

AO Atmos personal air filter mask

“I think I’m getting the black lung, Pop,” said Zoolander after a day of coalmining. Sometimes contractors will use air filter masks to prevent inhaling dust and fumes. Go all the way with this Atmos personal air filter and you’ll never get “the black lung.” The gizmo even connects to its own app to alert you when the air quality takes a turn for the worse…like when you drive into L.A. County.

LynQ internet-free people compass

Prove to your wife that you can be trusted.  Give her this tracking device and show her that on any given day, at any given time, you are in one of four very innocent places: 1) Driving down the road, 2) in the office, 3) on a roof, or 4) at Hooters.

Up to 12 people can be tracked on this device.  We think it was developed by the same scoundrel who invented speed bumps.

The Ösa rideable workbench

This may not be as macho as your Dodge Ram 2500, but if your roofing jobs are in a place like Portland, Oregon or Burlington, Vermont, property owners will love you for pulling up on one of these Swedish electric motorcycles. We’re not sure how much you can accomplish on its tiny “work benches,” but mounting one of these baby hogs certainly makes you look progressive or similarly… make you look like A Progressive!

Incipio Organicore Phone Case

After you mistakenly eat an Impossible Burger when you meant to just get a regular BK Whopper, the chemical reaction that takes place in your brain will probably lead you to swap out your plastic smartphone case with this plant-based, 100% compostable case.

The Incipio Organicore phone case offers drop protection for up to 6 feet to give you a sense of ease when working atop a house in Munchkinland.

Best Camera: Insta360 One R

Your clients will love seeing their home or building rendered in 360-degree glory. Better yet, use your stunning Insta360 images with iRoofing’s Roof Visualizer tool and you can bet the property owner will sing your praises to all their friends and associates. The Insta360 is also great for roofers who have large families. Mom, dad and all ten kids can easily fit into a wonderful family portrait!

UE Wonderboom Bluetooth Speaker

After a week of ripping up roof shingles, you might just want to lie down on a float in your pool, sip an umbrella drink, and blast some ZZ Top from this amazing Wonderboom speaker. This gadget is so tough it not only survives a plunge in your pool, but it can fall from a roof and keep on rockin’.

What to look for in 2021

Maybe… just maybe, 2021 will be a year when the Consumer Electronics show honors the technological advancements in roofing! There are some amazing innovations coming from the industry, such as, Tesla’s “photovoltaic” glass tile shingles and iRoofing’s iRoof Connect™ for unprecedented project collaboration. In the meantime, check out all the great innovations from the 2020 CES.
